Another Brochure Post for Tel Aviv

After over a week of very cold weather the sun healed. While enjoying the sun, I also did some light-weight political activity, enjoyed live music on the streets and filled my belly. I love the city a lot, and here’s a post that mixes everything. Yup, you’ve heard it before…

Friday in Tel Aviv

Elections for the municipality of Tel Aviv will be held in November. Some friends of mine, and myself, are not very content with the current non-transparent and aggressive behavior of the council, and we wanted to do something.

Tel Aviv Now
Mr. Lerman and myself.

Contrary to the elections in the US, November is very far in the local political scene. So what can be done in meantime? Well, it turns out that many young people that live in the city aren’t registered as Tel-Avivians. This population suffers from the mayor’s policy, has lots to say but cannot vote.

Our campaign is to get them to register as locals, so that they can vote in November. So, we took to the streets.

Live music in the streets

Luckily for us, a band named “The Collective” also settled in the same strip in the avenue. They played funky groovy jazz. I was fortunate to be acquainted with the singer, Roy Rieck. He has beautiful songs (in English), and you’re welcome to listen to them in his MySpace page. So, Roy and the band made some promotion to our cause.

After listening to music and chit-chatting with fellow city dwellers, we found ourselves going to an environment-friendly exhibition. The exhibition advocated abolishing plastic bags and buying from fair trade suppliers.

Price of Pollution

The picture above is from an original idea: The artists put out a few white shirts in the streets. The shirts collected pollution and dirt from cars and were presented to the public. Each of them had a tag price: 77,000,000 shekels – the price of pollution.

Well, after all this activity, our bellies also protested. Here are the remainders of the dessert.

Dining in Tel Aviv

I must admit that the picture was taken in another restaurant, on the following day. But it also took place after a political get-together, so it’s good enough. 🙂

There’s always something special happening in Tel Aviv. And if not, there are always good places to eat out…
