Connect to Nature and smell the Fuel

Going out of the city for a weekend, we did some camping on the shores of the Sea of Galilee (Kinneret). This small fresh water lake, less than two hours from Tel Aviv is a very nice place.

After exploring about ten camping sites, we finally chose the one at Caparnaum (Kfar Nachum). It seemed relatively quiet, not too crowded and friendly. Well, that was on Friday evening.

When we woke up on Saturday morning, we lots of jeeps arriving at the shore, parking at the waterline, and unpacking their jet skis and motorboats. Then, these vehicles were sailing along the coast, and coming back to the shore to fuel up.

Except having the jeeps block the waterline, we now had a constant smell of fuel. Not exactly the ideal “nature” trip. Our wish to wake up in the morning and dip into sea was undermined.

It was quite frustrating. Can’t we enjoy nature anymore?
